For the past 15 years, I've had the privilege of helping children discover confidence through learning.

As an elementary educator and dyslexia interventionist, I’ve spent my career supporting students who need reading taught differently- with explicit instruction, patience, and encouragement.

Disclaimer: Private literacy intervention services are provided in an individual capacity and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or provided on behalf of any school district or educational institution.

Outside of teaching, you’ll usually find me spending time with my daughters, enjoying slow mornings over coffee, reading together, planning our next travel adventure, or exploring local hiking trails. Those everyday moments remind me why helping children become confident readers matters so much. Reading opens doors, not only in school, but throughout life.

I'm a trained dyslexia interventionist, and my work is grounded in the Science of Reading. Every lesson is individualized, evidence-based, and designed to help students build lasting reading and spelling skills.

My perspective changed when reading became personal.

As a mother of two daughters, including one with dyslexia, I understand reading challenges from both sides of the table. I've experienced the uncertainty that comes with wondering whether your child is getting the support they need. I’ve celebrated the breakthroughs that happen when reading finally begins to make sense. Those experiences have deepened not only my expertise, but also my empathy for every family I serve.

After 15 years in public education, I realized that many children needed more individualized support than a traditional classroom could consistently provide.

I created Erika McCullough Literacy to offer families one-on-one instruction that is intentional, relationship-centered, and designed around each child’s unique needs.

Every child deserves to learn to read. More importantly, they deserve to believe they can.

What Working Together Looks Like

  • A large red starburst shape on a white background.

    Understand

I begin by getting to know your child with a literacy screener and discovery call. Together, we’ll discuss your concerns, review any previous assessments or school data, and identify the specific skills that need support. This allows me to create a clear starting point and meaningful goals.
